About Us

History
In the mid-1990's, a news story about European car sharing brought this market-based solution to air quality and traffic problems to the attention of a few enterprising Canadians. And so it was that on October 6, 1998, AutoShare was launched with a group of 16 pioneering members sharing 3 cars in Riverdale, the Annex and St. Lawrence Neighbourhood.

Since then, AutoShare has grown across Toronto, with 9,000 individuals, families and businesses sharing cars for their business and personal driving needs. For car sharing on other cities, please see CarSharing.net -or- CarSharing.ca.

10th Anniversary!
October 2008 marked our Tenth Anniversary - and we owe a huge thanks to our members, suppliers and staff! Of the 40 people who joined in our first three months of 1998, 21 are still with us! Kevin McLaughlin, President & founder
Kevin is also a co-founder of Vancouver's Co-operative Auto Network, the first successful English language car sharing company in the world. He was part of the Vancouver Television launch team and is a co-founder & Director of Evergreen, a national NGO connecting people with nature. In 2006, he was awarded the City of Toronto's Award of Excellence, and in 2008 nominated for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. In his spare time he volunteers with his wife at her bird rescue, and is teaching his son to ride a bike. Kevin is continuing a family tradition in the automobile industry that dates back to 1867. George Kozyrakis, General Manager
George first came to AutoShare as a member, depending on our cars to get his son to soccer. He liked the company so much that he left the retail sector to join the AutoShare team full-time in 2000. He is now in charge of the Fleet department, Operations and Technical development/deployment.

Betsy Carter, Manager, Member Communication & Billing
Betsy also came to AutoShare as a member, with experience in quality & customer support from a Toronto jewellery workshop, and with member organizational experience from Karma Co-op. She is a member of WindShare and is committed to improving Toronto's environment.

Irene Kozyrakis, Member Services
Irene joined AutoShare in the summer of 2001, and now helps to keep AutoShare's service running smoothly for our members.

Ama Aziavor, Member Services
Ama joined AutoShare in 2007.

Louise Liliefeld, Member Services
Louise has been involved with the artist-run/non-profit community in Toronto since 1987, including performanceart.ca + vtape.org. She is a performance artist and painter. She teaches part-time at the University Of Toronto and is a founder and current steering committee member of 7a*11d International Festival of Performance Art. Louise joined AutoShare in 2007 and is happy to be a part of the team.

Cindy Mielke, Member Services
Cindy became a member of Autoshare in 2004 after ridding herself of her own
troublesome car (while still wanting the freedom to still get around in a car). She
loved the service so much she decided to join our customer service team in 2007.

Harry Wang, Accounting
Harry joined us in the summer of 2008, and is on his way to the CGA (Certified General Accountant) designation. As a team player at AutoShare, he is very happy that his "job-with-the-numebrs" can create a healthier environment for future generations.

Gord Walker, Fleet Dept.
Gord moved back to Toronto and landed at AutoShare in the spring of 2005, just in time to help us grow our fleet again.

Lara Atlas, Fleet Dept.
Lara joined AutoShare's fleet team in 2008.

Said Habib, Fleet Dept.
Said Habib joined us in the Spring of 2007 and is using his experience in the Automotive, Distribution and Technology industries to support the growth and health of our fleet.

Mohamed Tahir, Fleet Dept.
Mohamed joined AutoShare's fleet team in 2008.

Tom Devenishek, Marketing Manager
Tom joined AutoShare in 2006 when he led our promotions team as a summer marketing co-op student. He continued to work at, and contribute to the success of AutoShare for the remainder of his studies and now proudly holds a BBA degree from the University of Toronto. As our Marketing Manager he is responsible for the general marketing and communications efforts of the company.
